Rodri WINS the Ballon d'Or as Real Madrid boycott Paris ceremony following Vinicius Jr snub, with injured Man City star capping glorious year after Euro 2024 and Premier League triumphs
A hobbling Rodri has been crowned the best player in world football at the Ballon d'Or in Paris. The Manchester City midfielder - out for the season with a double knee injury - became the first Premier League winner since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 and pipped Vinicius Junior to the gong. Rodri received the honour while on crutches at the Theatre du Châtelet. Vinicius, the Real Madrid and Brazil winger who had been the bookies' favourite for the prize, did not attend the ceremony after learning he had not won the award.
