New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo's season-ending injuries included not only a dislocated ankle but also a fibula fracture and deltoid ligament rupture, NFL Network reported Wednesday.

Skattebo sustained the injuries to his lower right leg midway through the second quarter in Sunday's 28-20 road loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was transported to a Philadelphia-area hospital and underwent surgery before being discharged on Monday. The team placed him on injured reserve on Tuesday, and Giants coach Brian Daboll declined to speculate on a timeline for Skattebo's return to the field.

"He's a couple days out of surgery. ... He's got a road ahead of him to rehab," Daboll said Wednesday.

According to Wednesday's report, Skattebo's injuries have a six-month recovery period, meaning he could still be ready for team OTAs and minicamp.

"I couldn't answer that. You have to ask the doctors," Daboll responded when asked about the possibility of Skattebo playing next season. "I don't think they can give me a six-month or eight-month prognostication. He's just getting done with surgery. He's got his leg all wrapped up.

"We're just going to help him rehab and he'll be out here as soon as he can."

Skattebo, 23, posted on X on Monday afternoon, expressing gratitude to those who reached out and helped him.

"Thank you everyone for the support," Skattebo posted. "Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way. Thank you to the doctors, surgeons, and staff that did their best work on me. This is just the beginning of my journey and I can't wait to show you guys all about it!!! GOD has a plan for me, stick the course and it will all work itself out. BRB (be right back)."

New York selected Skattebo in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Arizona State.

He had 101 carries for 410 yards and five touchdowns in eight games (five starts). He also caught 24 passes for 207 yards and two TDs.

Daboll said Skattebo was in the building taking part in meetings on Wednesday.

"He's been in, I've seen him wheeling around," Daboll said.

Adam Driver will star in a hostage drama series from Netflix titled "Rabbit, Rabbit."

The show is written by Peter Craig ("The Town," "The Batman") and directed by Philip Barantini, who won an Emmy for his work helming the Netflix limited series "Adolescence." It hails from independent film and TV studio MRC, which has a first-look deal with Craig.

"Rabbit, Rabbit" follows an escaped convict who, when cornered by law enforcement at a truck stop, takes hostages in an effort to negotiate for his freedom. The standoff quickly escalates into an "unmanageable social experiment with his captives," per the logline, becoming "an emotional poker match with a veteran FBI Crisis Negotiator trained in 'tactical empathy.'"

According to Netflix, the straight-to-series order was won in a "highly competitive" pursuit with other distributors.

Craig is the showrunner, writer and creator of the series, executive producing alongside director Barantini, Driver, Samantha Beddoe for her and Barantini's It's All Made Up Productions and Bryan Unkeless under his and Craig's Night Owl banner.

Craig wrote the screenplay for "Top Gun: Maverick" and created the Apple TV series "Dope Thief" starring Brian Tyree Henry. He launched his career with the screenplay for "The Town," directed by Ben Affleck.

Barantini was first an actor with roles in "Band of Brothers," "Dream Team," "Chernobyl" and "Ned Kelly" before pivoting to directing. His first feature film was "Villain" starring Craig Fairbrass, and then he adapted his short film into the Stephen Graham-starring feature film "Boiling Point," which was shot in one take. The two would collaborate again using the same format on "Adolescence," a gripping drama with four episodes shot in one take each. The series was nominated for 13 Emmys and won eight.

Driver is best known for playing Kylo Ren in the "Star Wars" franchise, as well as his roles in "Marriage Story," "Ferrari," "House of Gucci" and HBO's "Girls."

Amid their parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's ongoing scandal, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have reportedly both left the U.K. for separate trips.

Beatrice is in Saudi Arabia for work, while Eugenie is in Paris for a girls' trip.

While Andrew and Ferguson have given up their Duke and Duchess of York titles, Beatrice and Eugenie's standing in the royal family remains unchanged.

As scandal continues to loom around their parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have quietly left the U.K., both taking under-the-radar, out-of-the-country excursions, per Hello!.

The outlet reported that Eugenie was photographed with friends in Paris on a girls' trip, and was pictured alongside two of her girlfriends along the Seine with the Eiffel Tower visible in the background.

Meanwhile, Beatrice jetted off to Saudi Arabia for the Future Investment Initiative, an event where high-level, global businesses meet to discuss innovation across tech and finance. It makes sense that Beatrice would be there, as she is the vice president of partnerships and strategy at U.S. software company Afiniti.

On October 17, their father and mother relinquished their respective Duke and Duchess of York titles amid ongoing fallout from their association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In the aftermath, rumors have swirled that the ex-couple—who divorced in 1996 but still live together—might be leaving the 30-room mansion Royal Lodge and relocating to other properties on the Windsor estate.

The day after the news broke that Andrew and Ferguson would surrender their prestigious royal titles, Beatrice and Eugenie both skipped a planned appearance at the inaugural Pink Ball at the British Museum on October 18. While no firm reason was given for their absence, its close proximity to Andrew's announcement leaves little guesswork as to why.

Though their parents have lost their titles, Beatrice and Eugenie's princess status and their respective places in the British line of succession will remain unaffected. Neither are working royals; Beatrice, as previously mentioned, works at Afiniti, while Eugenie is a director at the Hauser & Wirth art gallery.

Just before the big announcement from Andrew on October 17, both Beatrice and Eugenie were out and about socially. Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi had two back-to-back nights out, stepping out in London on October 13 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Art of Wishes Gala and then on October 14 to the Chancery Rosewood hotel's grand opening—where rooms rent for around $27,000 a night, per People.

That same day, Eugenie took on a rare royal duty during an official state visit from the royal family of Jordan, touring Springfield University Hospital and St. George's Mental Health NHS Trust alongside Princess Rajwa of Jordan. The two women then toured Hauser & Wirth together, according to People.

In a recent report from The Sunday Times, Beatrice and Eugenie's cousin Prince William is said to want Andrew in no part of his future reign—everything from his coronation to the royal family's traditional Christmas celebrations at Sandringham. While the Prince of Wales is said to also be banning Ferguson from all aspects of royal life, he still welcomes the company of Beatrice and Eugenie into the fold.

Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson wasn't able to play the past couple weeks, but still found a way to make an impact with the team. Turns out, Jackson was the main voice behind the Ravens removing ping-pong tables and games from the team's locker room amid its poor start to the season.

Jackson confirmed as much Tuesday, saying he wanted his teammates to focus on turning things around after starting the year 1-5.

"I told Kenico [Hines], our head equipment guy, I told him to take all the games and ping-pong and turn the TVs off. If we could have took the TVs out, they would have been out too. I appreciate Mr. Steve [Bisciotti] for putting that in there for us, but we had to focus.

"I don't want to say people don't take the job serious, don't get me wrong, but I don't feel like it was the time for that. We've got a lot of work to do."

Jackson was asked about his role in the team removing games from the locker room after veteran Marlon Humphrey revealed Jackson was at the center of the tactic. Jackson wasn't upset that his name was leaked and happily answered the question.

Jackson said he does not anticipate those games to return to the locker room until next season. For now, he wants the Ravens focused on getting back to their winning ways.

The team accomplished that Sunday, beating the Chicago Bears, 30-16. The win pushed the Ravens to 2-5, keeping the team alive in a shaky AFC North.

While the Ravens still have a lot of work to do to get to a winning record, help is on the way. Jackson is ready to return from his hamstring injury and is expected to play against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday night.

Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier will reportedly not get paid while they are on leave from their NBA teams, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

The NBA will reportedly withhold Billups' and Rozier's paychecks and place them in escrow pending the outcome of the FBI cases, per Charania.

The NBPA announced in a statement that it intends to challenge the decision to withhold Rozier's salary, citing its collective bargaining agreement with the NBA.

"While we are in agreement with the league that upholding the integrity of the game is of the utmost importance, their decision to place Terry on leave without pay is counter to the presumption of innocence and inconsistent with the terms of our Collective Bargaining Agreement," the statement reads. "We plan to challenge their decision via the proper channels."

Billups and Rozier were arrested by the FBI on Thursday as part of two separate illegal gambling cases. Billups was arrested for his alleged involvement in rigged poker games. Billups, who was reportedly aware the games were rigged, played in them to give the impression the games were legitimate. Game operators reportedly used rigged shuffling machines, X-ray tables and other devices to cheat certain players out of winning hands.

Rozier was arrested in a separate case, in which he allegedly shared inside information with an individual who shared that information with bettors. The game in question occurred during the 2022-23 NBA season, when Rozier was still with the Charlotte Hornets. A bettor reportedly placed nearly $14,000 on Rozier unders for that game. Rozier left the contest after just nine minutes due to a foot injury, causing those under bets to win.

Former Cleveland Cavaliers player and assistant coach Damon Jones was also arrested Thursday. Jones is not currently an active member of the NBA in either role.

Hours after the FBI arrested Billups and Rozier, the two men were placed on immediate leave by the NBA. The league said it was reviewing the federal indictments the FBI released Thursday and took the allegations "with the utmost seriousness."

Rozier, 31, was entering the final year of the four-year, $97 million deal he signed with the Hornets in 2021. He was traded to the Heat in 2024 and was set to make $26 million during the 2025-26 NBA season.

Billups, 49, agreed to a two-year extension to stay with Portland in April. Financial details of Billups' contract, including his salary, were not made available at the time.

Did Giannis Antetokounmpo travel? Bucks star ignites NBA gather rule debate

Giannis Antetokounmpo caught the ball just inside the halfcourt line at Fiserv Forum, and then took seven steps to just one dribble before scoring a basket over New York Knicks forward Karl-Anthony Towns.

Nobody noticed what the Milwaukee Bucks superstar had pulled off live during the national NBC broadcast on Tuesday, Oct. 28, as the Bucks played host to the Knicks in an early-season NBA matchup. But a slow-motion replay revealed a sequence that would quickly inspire the latest social media debate about whether the best basketball league in the world actually calls traveling anymore.

"We could have played til we were 50, if we get that runway," Reggie Miller said to fellow NBC analyst and former NBA player Jamal Crawford as they laughed and counted the steps on air.

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) October 29, 2025

But Antetokounmpo did not get called for traveling and NBC's Mike Tirico explained on the broadcast to an incredulous Miller the non-call might have been the correct call given the way the NBA's "gather rule" is written. It became the highlight shared around the internet on a night when the Bucks secured a 121-111 win behind 37 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists from Antetokounmpo against the team that had trade talks about him this past offseason.

Here's a breakdown of the gather rule, how it applies to Antetokounmpo's travel/non-travel against the Knicks and some of the best reactions to Antetokounmpo's one-dribble foray to the basket:

NBA GAMBLING SCANDAL TIMELINE: Chauncey Billups, Terry Rozier, Mafia ties explained

What is the NBA's gather rule?

The actual act of "the gather," is defined in two ways by the NBA in Section II of its official rules. For a player who receives the ball via a pass or gains possession of a loose ball, the gather is defined as "the point where the player gains enough control of the ball to hold it, change hands, pass, shoot, or the player cradles the ball against his body."

For a player who is in control of the ball while dribbling, the gather is defined as the point where a player does any one of the following:

Puts two hands on the ball, or otherwise permits the ball to come to rest, while he is in control of it.

Puts a hand under the ball and brings it to a pause;

Otherwise gains enough control of the ball to hold it, change hands, pass, shoot, or the player cradles the ball against his body.

In Antetokounmpo's case, latter definition of "the gather" applies because it occurred while he was in control of the ball and dribbling, even if just one time. Furthermore, Section XIII of the NBA rules state "a player who gathers the ball while progressing may take two steps in coming to a stop, passing or shooting the ball."

How NBA gather rule applies to Giannis Antetokounmpo play

Though Antetokounmpo took five steps after his lone dribble on the play, the non-travel argument would be that his "gather" didn't technically start until he put his left hand on the ball. He only took two steps after that.

"The counting starts when he can't dribble anymore, so that ball is laying on his hand, he can put it down one more time," Tirico said on the broadcast to an unconvinced Miller. "Alright look, Reg, don't look at me. I don't write the rules. I just read them to you, pal. I didn't say that that wasn't (traveling). I'm just saying that's what it is."

Best Giannis Antetokounmpo reactions

Miller was among those to make light of the situation, and crack jokes playing off the ambiguity of the rule. "There's going to be some kid in Oshkosh, Wisconsin now going to their local gym yelling, I'm doing the gather," Miller said.

Here are some more of the compelling reactions around social media after the highlight of Antetokounmpo's non-travel went viral:

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made a surprise appearance at the World Series in Los Angeles

The pair were decked out in Dodgers hats, clearly rooting for the home team

Meghan is distantly related to one of the players, All-Star shortstop Mookie Betts

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were rooting for the home team — and a relative — as they attended the World Series.

Meghan documented the "date night" at the ballpark on Oct. 28 in a video on her Instagram Stories. She showed Harry rooting on the Los Angeles Dodgers, who lost to the Toronto Blue Jays to even the series 2-2.

The couple also chowed down on some stadium food, with Meghan covering a laugh as she was filmed eating a signature "Dodger Dog."

While her loyalties were with the Dodgers during the outing, Meghan has a strong connection to both cities playing in the 2025 World Series. Los Angeles is her hometown, but she also spent years living in Toronto while filming Suits.

She also had another reason to root for the Dodgers over the Blue Jays: a family connection. The Duchess of Sussex is distantly related to the Dodgers' all-star shortstop, Mookie Betts.

Meghan even took a moment in her Instagram Stories to point out Mookie's Golden Glove award during her and Harry's behind-the-scenes tour of Dodger Stadium.

The family connection was uncovered by amateur genealogist Jim McNiff and reported by the Boston Globe back in 2018, as Meghan was preparing for her royal wedding to Prince Harry and Mookie was playing for the Red Sox.

Meghan, 44, and Mookie, 33, whose real name is Markus Lynn Betts, actually may share two connections. They are distantly related through the marriage of Meghan's great-great aunt, Katie Betts, to Mookie's great-great uncle, Richard Betts, a second marriage for both.

The second link, however, forced McNiff to do a little more digging.

He perused the 1870 Federal Census of Madison County, Ala., and found several adults and children with the surname Betts, two of whom were 17-year-old Joseph Betts and 14-year-old Jacob Betts, who lived just a few houses apart. While it's not officially known if Joseph and Jacob were related, records match to indicate that they were both descended from enslaved people owned by Elisha Betts, a tobacco plantation owner from Virginia.

Joseph Betts is the great-great-grandfather of Mookie Betts, and Jacob Betts is the great-great-great-grandfather of Meghan.

Meghan didn't comment on the connection at the time, however, she has publicly stated that her mother, Doria Ragland, descended from enslaved people.

Mookie told the Globe that he had "no idea" about their connection prior to McNiff's findings. "That's not something you expect to hear, but it's interesting.''

"I know from family stories that our relatives were from Virginia and settled in Alabama," he said. "There were Betts all over that area."

The following year, in 2019, Meghan and Mookie got to meet when the Red Sox traveled to London to play an overseas series against the New York Yankees. She and Harry met the team in their locker room, and the distant cousins got to share a hug for the first time.

Mookie is well on his way to a Hall of Fame coronation of his own. Whether or not his Dodgers win their second consecutive World Series this year, the right-handed shortstop, second baseman and outfielder is already poised to go down as one of the greatest of his generation.

He's an eight-time All-Star and already has three World Series rings: one with the Red Sox and two with the Dodgers. In 2018, he became the first player in MLB history to win the MVP, Silver Slugger, Gold Glove, batting title and World Series all in the same season.

Bunnie XO doesn't play when it comes to her Halloween costumes.

This year, Jelly Roll's wife opted for a hauntingly beautiful broken doll look, becoming nearly unrecognizable with a drastic transformation that has completely impressed her fans.

In a new Instagram post uploaded on Tuesday, Oct. 28, Bunnie showed off this year's costume, which appeared to have been inspired by the character Sally from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Bunnie, whose real name is Alyssa DeFord, fully committed to the costume, selling the look with dramatic, creepy makeup and even a new hair color.

Using makeup to alter the shape of her eyes, Bunnie looked eerily similar to Sally, the wide-eyed rag doll from the 1993 animated Disney film. She also had the same stitches across her jaw, as well as red lipstick and a bright red wig to match Sally's hair color.

But the transformation didn't stop at her head, as Bunnie also had stitches drawn across her chest to mimic Sally's stitches from being sewn together by mad scientist Dr. Finkelstein.

Bunnie also wore a color-patched dress and a pair of lace black tights to complete the costume.

A shoulder injury limiting quarterback Joe Flacco could force the Cincinnati Bengals to reinsert Jake Browning in the starting spot for Sunday's meeting with the Chicago Bears.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said the team considers Flacco day-to-day and offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher voiced optimism on Wednesday that Flacco could still be ready by Sunday.

Flacco did not practice Wednesday and is "50-50" to play Sunday, Taylor said.

If Flacco has anything to do with the final decision, he'll be in the lineup based on Taylor's assessment.

"He wants to play. I hate speaking for him but that's what he told me," Taylor said. "A guy that wants to get out there and play with something like that, that's a credit to him.

"He wasn't here in the offseason. He wasn't invested in our training camp. It would be easy for him -- we've got a bye next week, I've got an AC joint (injury, let's just let this thing heal up -- but that's not the communication he's given to me at all."

Flacco suffered an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder in last week's loss to the Jets. It was his third start since being acquired from the Cleveland Browns.

He had eight touchdowns and no interceptions with Cincinnati. Still, the Bengals went 1-2 with Flacco as its QB1.

Browning had an 0-3 record as a starter this season and was benched with the offense lagging. Cincinnati averaged 12.3 points with Browning running the first team.

Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was revitalized with Flacco in the lineup, catching an NFL-record-tying 38 passes for 346 yards and two touchdowns in the past three games. Only former Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas (2018) has ever caught 38 passes in a three-game span.

The Bears (4-3) have allowed 185 points (26.4 per game) and 16 touchdown passes this season.

The NFL is determined to prove Minnesota Vikings kicker Will Reichard did not hit a camera wire on his missed field-goal attempt in Week 5. The league reviewed video of the kick from multiple angles and determined "the ball in no way made any contact with the cable," an NFL spokesperson told ESPN.

The kick, and the controversy surrounding it, seemed to die out after a few weeks, but came back into the public's consciousness after Amazon Prime announcer Al Michaels brought it up during the "Thursday Night Football" game between the Vikings and Los Angeles Chargers in Week 8.

As Reichard lined up for a kick, Michaels mentioned the kicker's Week 5 miss, saying, "His only miss this year was when he hit a wire — with the camera — in London!"

NFL rules analyst Walt Anderson heard that comment and reportedly called Amazon Prime rules analyst Terry McAulay to say the NFL did not believe Reichard's miss was the result of a ball hitting a camera wire.

Eventually, Michaels was forced to backtrack on his statement during the broadcast, according to ESPN.

"The league wants to take my lunch away because I said before that Reichard's only miss came when he hit a wire in London." Michaels said. "The league says, 'No, no, it was an optical illusion.' [That's] not what Reichard thinks."

Reichard's miss in Week 5 did not ultimately affect the outcome of the game, which the Vikings won 21-17 over the Cleveland Browns.

Will The Thill Reichard's 51-yard field goal attempt pretty clearly hit the wire. Causing it to go from being straight down the middle to violently veering to the right. Would have resulted in a re-kick. How did the officials/replay booth not see ANY of this? pic.twitter.com/ppOrcTqmGm

Heading into Week 8, that was Reichard's only missed field-goal attempt of the season. That prompted Reichard's agent — Jim Ivler — to contact the NFL to see whether the league would remove the attempt from Reichard's stats. Ivler didn't want his client's numbers to suffer due to a piece of equipment on the field.

Ivler claimed the person he contacted at the NFL initially said the attempt could be removed. Later, however, that same person reportedly told Ivler it was actually not possible to remove Reichard's attempt.

Reichard also missed a field-goal attempt in Week 8, giving him two misses on the season.

Determined to prove Reichard's kick did not hit the camera wire, the NFL issued a lengthy statement to ESPN claiming it was "not possible for the cables to interfere with the flight of the ball."

"There is no video evidence of the football making contact with the broadcast cable. The day after the game, we were in touch with our colleagues who handled production responsibilities for the NFL Network broadcast. Those engineers, who were on site in London, verified that because of the position of the camera behind the kicker and where the cables were mounted in the stadium, it was not possible for the cables to interfere with the flight of the ball. The slow-motion replay of the kick that went to air was from a low-end zone camera on the tight end of its lens, which compresses the plane of focus. That's why the football and one of the cables are visible in the same shot, but the ball in no way made any contact with the cable."

The play, however, clearly irked the NFL, which also reportedly showed it to team owners at a league meeting in October in an attempt to prove on-field equipment was not to blame for the miss. At that meeting, NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent and Anderson reportedly said Reichard's kick did not hit the camera wire because the ball did not have "a weird spin." The league reportedly showed footage of the kick in which the camera wires were highlighted before Reichard made contact with the ball.

While Vikings special teams coach Matt Daniels and Reichard still seem skeptical based on how the ball moved on Reichard's Week 5 miss, the kicker said he's ready to put the controversy behind him.

The NFL, on the other hand, wants to set the record straight, no matter how much time has passed since the kick.

Players picked Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber as the best in the National League for the 2025 season over Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani.

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh was voted MLB Player of the Year and American League Player of the Year ahead of Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, who won the honor from the MLB Players Association in 2024 and 2022. Ohtani won in 2021 with the Los Angeles Angels.

Raleigh led MLB with 60 home runs and the American League with 125 RBIs, leading the Mariners to the AL West division title and within one win of the World Series. Raleigh since was named Sporting News MLB Player of the Year last week.

He set records for most home runs by a catcher, switch-hitter and as a Seattle Mariner.

Schwarber led the NL with 56 home runs and 132 RBIs, setting a record with 23 home runs as a lefty off of left-handed pitchers.

The Major League Baseball Players Association began handing out awards in 1992.

Detroit Tigers ace left-hander Tarik Skubal was voted Outstanding Pitcher in the American League and Pittsburgh Pirates two-time All-Star Paul Skenes got the honor for the National League.

Skubal won the ERA title in the American League at 2.21 and has a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 241-33.

Skenes won the outright ERA title with a 1.97, his second season at sub-2.00. He struck out 216 in 187 2/3 innings.

"It is pretty darn cool. It's an honor. Great to be here. Great to have the accolade," Skenes said Wednesday on "CBS Morning" appearing as part of the official announcement.

Schwarber's teammate Aaron Nola, a right-handed pitcher, was named 2025 Philanthropist of the Year. The honor recognizes community work and "altruistic spirit." Nola donated $197,000 to team Red, White and Blue by contributing $1,000 for each of his 197 strikeouts. He also hosts a bowling tournament to raise funds for ALS research for which he was named the Washington, D.C., ALS Association Volunteer Impact Award honoree in 2025.
